Committees and Groups
The Society of Biology has two Principal Committees: Education, Training and Policy (ETP) and Membership, Marketing and Communications (MMC).
Education Training and Policy Committee
The ETP Committee is responsible for:

Proactive development of a strategic policy framework across education and science policy

Creation of an evidence base to underpin policy work

Reactive guidance and support in responding to consultations

Oversight of the Chartered status and developing its potential

Directing festival and careers activity as part of the strategic framework

Oversight of specialist registers and strategic direction

Membership Marketing and Communications Committee
The MMC Committee is responsible for:
- publications (Biologist & Journal of Biological Education)
- external communications, member communications and media relations
- working with the branches
- Fellowship and membership - nominations and applications
- Chartered Biologist status Committee Chair: Sue Thorn
Working groups, committees and staff carry out the day-to-day activities of the Society and report to the Principal Committees.
The statutory Sub-committees of Council are Standing Finance, and Appeals Panels (as required).
