Education

We at the Wessex Branch firmly are very keen to encourage young people who aspire to become professional biologists and we want to take this enthusiasm to the classroom.

We are looking to create links with schools and education schemes (such as STEMNet) to give after school seminars, associated where possible with the GCSE or A Level curriculum.

These ideas are good in principal but we need your help to make them a success.

As a member of the Society of Biology, you can come forward and offer your services. The catchment of Wessex is large (covering four counties; Dorset, Channel Islands, Hampshire and Isle of Wight and Wiltshire) and as such we will have a diverse, passionate number of biologists who would be willing to:

  • Give talks
  • Help mentor students
  • Arrange quizzes and competitions
  • Assist the younger biologist moving through the early stage of their scientific career.
