Happy Families
The Game Happy Families is a light-hearted look at simple inheritance. It shows how children receive characteristic features from their parents. Will they get their mum’s blue eyes or their dad’s brown eyes? Will they be tall like their dad? Have they got their mum’s nose? Can you tell who the parents of a child are from the child’s features?
Using sets of cards, which give the features of males (dads), females (mums) and children the students are asked to work out who are the correct parents. This game can be used as a stand-alone activity, although I have found that it makes a fun interlude during sex education lessons using the DNA & Inheritance presentation below as a link.
Answers are given in the Teachers’ notes
