Your Genome
YourGenome.org is a Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute website offering information and activities to engage students, teachers and members of the public with genome science and issues.
Yourgenome.org provides information, downloadable activities, interviews and animations on gene basics, the Human Genome Project, and case studies/topics that look at the ethics of genetic applications and developing fields of genome research that will have an impact on health and disease. The website has downloadable practical activities for the classroom such as origami DNA and sequence bracelets, and a constantly-updated list of recommended links to online resources. Video interviews with scientific staff at the Sanger Institute and other world-leading researchers provide insight into how science works, while animations on the site show how the human genome was sequenced, how genes encode proteins, and the location of DNA within cells.
YourGenome.org is an educational site that can be used to provide background on contemporary genetics for students and teachers or as a source of teaching tools for the classroom.
