2011 Member Organisations' Meeting

Following the AGM and Charter lecture on 14th April, over 40 Member Organisation (MO) representatives gathered at Charles Darwin House to discuss the Society’s work, their first meeting of 2011. Professor John Coggins chaired the meeting which discussed the need for more shared back office resources to reduce costs, the opportunity for trustee training, options for helping smaller MOs and the wider policy work of the Society.

The main focus of the meeting, however, was the education agenda. Helped by an expert panel drawn from the MOs and chaired by Dr Liz Lakin there was a detailed discussion around all the current education issues with the curriculum review taking centre stage. It is clear that education remains a key priority for MOs with support for continuing the current combination of directly seeking to influence the policy agenda (often through SCORE) and proactive provision of information to students and teachers including careers advice. A full note of the meeting will be available on the website shortly.
