AGM 2010 & Charter Lecture - 8 April

The first Annual General Meeting of the Society of Biology was held on Thursday, 8 April 2010 at Charles Darwin House. The Agenda is below. 

The AGM was followed by the Charter Lecture Science for a leaner, fitter future given by Dr Susan Jebb, Head of Nutrition and Health Research, MRC Human Nutrition Research Unit, Cambridge.

Agenda

1. Welcome – Society of Biology President, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell

2. Chief Executive, Dr Mark Downs - Impact and future aspirations of the Society

3. Receive and approve Council’s and Committees’ reports

4. Confirmation of Council membership and information on agreed terms of office (Hon Secretary Professor David Coates) including election of Chairs of the two member Colleges (see personal statements, right)

5. Update on new regulations and confirmation of approval by Privy Council and Charity Commission (Professor David Coates)

6. Receive and consider Report & Accounts for y/e 30 September 2009 (to be made available online or sent by post by request end of February) and receive auditor’s report (Hon Treasurer Dr William Marshall) – opportunity for members’ questions

7. Appoint auditors and authorise Council to fix their remuneration (Dr William Marshall)

8. AOB (noted in advance to the Chief Executive)
