September Science Festivals
We are getting into the (science) festival spirit this September. Exciting events are taking place across the UK so make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to get involved!
British Science Festival
Bradford is hosting the British Science Festival (10th-15th September) this year and there are plenty of things to see and do. Take part in a workshop or lively debate, watch a play or film, or get the whole family involved in some hands-on science. Book a place at the Society of Biology sponsored talk "Human Mutation: the good the bad and the indifferent" to learn from Professor Adam Eyre-Walker about the different types of mutation and explore what effects they have on us.
In Bradford on 13th September we will be launching our Science Communication Project report which we have been working on with Member Organisations since November 2010. This will be the perfect opportunity for our Member Organisations to network with each other and other members of the science communication community who will have descended upon Bradford for the festival.
BBC's Bang Goes the Theory
We are also on tour with BBC’s Bang Goes the Theory, engaging the public with hands-on biology in the Interactive Tent. In September we will be travelling with the BBC team to two locations:
- Cwmbran: 2 - 3 September 2011
- Bradford: 10 - 11 September 2011
Come along to the Bang show and visit us in the interactive area.
Keep checking our festivals page to see where we will be heading next.
Volunteer opportunities
We are looking for enthusiastic students and passionate scientists to volunteer to help out with our hands-on biology stand. If you are interested and would like more information then email Jenna Stevens-Smith. No experience is necessary - just a love of biology!
