Can GM technology cure the world's growing pains?

The recent upsurge in interest in food security has focussed attention again on GM technology as a potential solution to the current challenges in world food production. Both the recent Royal Society report on food security ‘Reaping the Benefits’ and Defra’s Food 2030 strategy were notable in their pro-biotechnology stance, and provoked much comment from GM critics and advocates. A café scientifique style discussion led by Professor Rosie Hails FSB at the British Library on 21 January tackled this issue, and we’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter.
