2011 Winners

We would like to thank all the budding photographers who entered our 2011 "What inspired you to be a biologist?" photography competition. We had over 250 entries into the competition and it was wonderful to see the many ways in which our entrants were inspired by the biological world.

The winner, runner-up and highly commended entries were announced at the Science Communication and Photography Awards at Charles Darwin House on 2nd November 2011.


Wei-Feng Xue was named Photographer of the Year for his image "Patterned tree roots" and the Young Photographer of the Year was Olivia Brown with her image of macaques entitled “Mother and Child”.
