Warnings for drugs pipeline from AZ contraction 3 February 2012 - 0 comments AstraZeneca, the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company that is a global leader in medicinal research and development, and a major employer of UK scientists, has announced that it will be cutting 7,500 jobs as part of a world-wide restructuring programme. Approximately 8,000 of the global 61,000 strong workforce are in the UK and this includes a strong UK Research and Development cohort.

The closure of the UK Centre for Bioscience in December 2011 offered the Society the opportunity to manage the award and we are delighted to be able to ensure that this Award continues despite the Centre’s closure.
