Society of Biology Travelling Fellowship
The aim of the fellowship is to afford the opportunity of overseas travel in connection with biological study, teaching or research to those who would otherwise be unlikely to have it.
See selected reports from previous recipients of the awards.
Details:
- The Fellowship is open to Student Affiliate and Associate AMSB members of the Society. Those that are eligible to transfer to the Member MSB grade will not be eligible for the award.
- Non-members can apply for the Fellowship providing they have submitted a full paid membership application and are eligible to join at either the Student Affiliate or Associate AMSB grade.
- Ten awards of £500 are made available each year
- Applicants may use the award to attract additional funding but the Society will still expect prominent recognition and the report, as mentioned below.
- Applications for conference may be made but it must be clear why the applicant will not otherwise be able to attend and ideally we would expect the applicant to present a paper or poster. Our preference is for non-conference awards for innovative opportunities.
- Within six weeks of the completion of the Fellowship, recipients must submit a report describing the work carried out with the aid of the award. The copyright of this report must be invested in the Society. The Society will publish some or all of the reports online with the best published in its house journal The Biologist.
- The recipients will be personally responsible for all arrangements and expenditure including travel, insurance, home and personal commitments.
- The next Award will be made during November 2012 and the application deadline is the 1st October 2012.
Application:
- Full CV detailing educational history and career details
- 500 word statement on the purpose to which the Fellowship will be put towards
